An interesting variation on a Log Cabin – the Stepping Stones pattern

We have some new quilts from a remote Old Order community in Wisconsin. The community, guided by a strict Bishop, seeks self-sufficiency with minimal commercial interaction with the non-Amish world. We are excited to present their work. This Stepping Stones Amish quilt has a real ethereal beauty, and it’s so far from simple, yet its complexity is so understated.The dark bands are foundational. They ground this quilt. It’s rooted by its dark bands. In contrast, the lighter bands seem to float insubstantial – not solid. As if they are made of energy. This is a master quilt! And, it’s suitable for both king and queen sized beds.

A gorgeous Star Log Cabin Amish quilt!

Among the most versatile of quilt patterns, here is a Star Log Cabin quilt. By changing the placement of jewel toned logs and light logs, a star pattern rather than a Barn Raising pattern is achieved. Lots of hand quilting throughout.  (Item 2190)

An unusual king size Courthouse Steps Amish Quilt

This pattern, Courthouse Steps, is a variation on a traditional Log Cabin pattern. The black fabric is patterned and the white fabric is shadow patterned, and, there are pops of burgundy. So instead of a very modern looking quilt, we have a quilt that is delicate and rich like an older quilt while it also retains the austerity of a contemporary quilt. Unusual, beautiful, brilliant. This quilt is for a king size bed.
