A traditional Boston Common Amish quilt pattern – with a few twists!

Ours is an innovative twist on a traditional Boston Common Amish quilt pattern. The maker took the pattern and literally turned it on its side. So, rather than a rectangular pattern, the Boston Common quilt pattern is in a diamond shape. And, rather that piece a diamond of the same colors in the inner space of this quilt, she hand appliqued and embroidered a heart shaped wreath of flowers. And apparently this wasn’t enough! On our Boston Common Amish quilt the maker also embroidered and appliqued a garland of flowers at the head of this quilt to compliment the central wreath. Finally, there’s so much hand quilting in our Boston Common Amish quilt, we don’t know where to tell you to look first! (Item 2204)

Country Garden Amish Applique Quilt

Our Country Garden applique quilt is filled with freehand cut elements.  Hand appliques include flowers buds, leaves, branches and bows.  The entire quilt is heavily hand quilted with precise tiny stitches as well as strategically placed complimentary embroidered elements. (Item 2215)

An Amish applique quilt of Country Grapes

Applique quilts are difficult to make and time consuming to finish. In the case of our Country Grapes applique Amish quilt, the maker filled it with hand cut and appliqued clusters of grapes, leaves and bows. The maker chose shades of purple and green and hand appliqued all elements over a light background for contrast. She also appliqued beautiful elements over the portion of the quilt that will cover your pillows. The entire quilt is heavily quilted with some very precise and complimentary hand embroidery and is hand bound. This quilt literally is a grapevine – for your bedroom! (Item 2108)

An appliqued Heart of Roses Amish quilt

“I am the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley”

The inspiration for this applique quilt is excerpted from the Song of Solomon, “I am the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley,” a poem about the love of a man for his wife.  It’s also interpreted to be about God’s love for His children. A bouquet of Rose of Sharon and Lily of the Valley flowers sit in the central medallion of this quilt.  Colors include red, burgundy, navy and green. Appliqued elements are freehand cut and applied over a heavily hand quilted white background.  Be sure to have a look at the detail shots to see the superb embroidered elements. (Item 2106)
