“I am the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley”
The inspiration for this applique quilt is excerpted from the Song of Solomon, “I am the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley,” a poem about the love of a man for his wife. It’s also interpreted to be about God’s love for His children. A bouquet of Rose of Sharon and Lily of the Valley flowers sit in the central medallion of this quilt. Colors include red, burgundy, navy and green. Appliqued elements are freehand cut and applied over a heavily hand quilted white background.
