Stack and Whack – and ingenious way to make a quilt
Eight layers of fabric are stacked and cut to create a Stack and Whack Amish quilt. Then, the pieces are matched to form Amish stars. No stars are alike. This quilt reminds us of looking through kaleidoscopes. The piecing is perfection. Look at the bars and squares that set off each Amish star. Do you know how hard it is to do this with such precision, and, so perfectly? There is only one woman who makes the Stack and Whack pattern that we know of. She is in her 80’s and lives alone.
