An interesting variation on a Log Cabin – the Stepping Stones pattern
We have some new quilts from a remote Old Order community in Wisconsin. The community, guided by a strict Bishop, seeks self-sufficiency with minimal commercial interaction with the non-Amish world. We are excited to present their work. This Stepping Stones Amish quilt has a real ethereal beauty, and it’s so far from simple, yet its complexity is so understated.The dark bands are foundational. They ground this quilt. It’s rooted by its dark bands. In contrast, the lighter bands seem to float insubstantial – not solid. As if they are made of energy. This is a master quilt! And, it’s suitable for both king and queen sized beds.
