Memory Chain Amish Patchwork Quilt
The Amish call this quilt pattern a “Memory Chain.” It is a patchwork in a pattern we have never seen before. More genius: the patches are soft and muted, kind of indefinite and searching, like remembering, like memory. The rest of the top and back are a soft ivory color. The maker used high-loft batting for this quilt so it is extra cozy and warm. There is a lot of hand quilting throughout: feathered twists, vines of hearts, zigzags and garlands . . . representing a life worthwhile and well lived!
