Log Cabin in the Round quilt – a traditional pattern in contemporary colors.
A Log Cabin in the Round quilt is made by arranging bars of fabric (or “logs”) in a way that creates arcs or curves. This is done with a piecing technique whereby the light colored logs are thicker than the colorful darker logs. While difficult to piece when matched up the variance in thickness gives what appears to be a curve or arc. The maker quilted every log “in the ditch.” Hand quilted feather patterns cover all of the remaining space. Colors in this quilt include various shades of gray, black, burgundy, rose and teal. The quilter chose a variety of calico and solid fabrics and pieced them over an off white background.
